Everything Else is Pre Posterous

Posterous is the niftiest of web utilities. One post, by email, via phone, whatever and it instantly updates all your services, from a website or a blog to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Wordpress, LinkedIn and everything in between. The brainchild of one Sachin Agarwal (to be married in three weeks, it seems), it is entirely intuitive. You get going in no time at all.

The logic is so simple it seems almost banal. Everybody uses email. Everybody has a cellphone. And lots of the everybodies want to post on FB, twitter, what have you. Why should they have to go to each in turn? Just send posterous an email and it takes care of everything. From text to photos, video, links, the lot.

The best thing about it is that it accepts a whole range of email addresses. Depending on what address you choose, you can post only to one service to the exclusion of the others, or even combine services together. It has the sexiest protocol for parsing the address to which you send your email, and uses it to determine where the post should appear. Even in a multiblog scenario, this works incredibly well. Not to be missed.
